    After seeing this in the news a few weeks back I was considering whether it's worth informing the local constabulary if you're going to be parked up somewhere overnight+;

    What's others views - anyone contact the local police or not bother?

      I’ve started letting the police know if I’m leaving the car in some remote spot in the Highlands for a few days. It’s easy enough to do. I use the “contact us” section on the Police Scotland website. I asked a police officer I know and she thought it was sensible. I also know others who do the same.

      I’m most concerned that the police contact Mrs Bananaboat and get her all concerned.

        Something I've considered but never done. I think the alarm was raised due to their appearance so I suspect most of us are safe.

        Once upon a time you'd leave a note in the windscreen but I guess that's just advertising for criminals now.

          I do still occasionally put a note in the car (not in the windscreen, but visible), but only in the far NW Highlands in winter, for instance on a 3 night bothy trip. I have also told nearby businesses where relevant, and I have once told the local police. More often than not I haven't though. Definitely something to consider.
