FREE YOUR MIND Our Custom shapes are second to none. Most of the time, these are variations of the standard boards we have – a tweak there to the outline, or simply customizing the volume to the paddlers needs. Other times our custom boards are really that – custom. Like the Asym example shown here. This Asym pictured is for a goofy foot surfer.

The Heelside board (because we treat each side of the board like its a different board all together) has a shorter outline, and more sweep to the rail in the tail (more curve to the outline). The fin spacing is tighter. The focus is in making heelside turns looser and the board comes around quicker without flipping your paddle from hand to hand.

Toeside has a longer, straighter outline so you have better hold, and it’s slightly narrower (to compensate for ankle flex when edging toe side). Fin spacing is slightly farther back and more spread in the cluster to reduce slip (which is harder to control toeside because of ankle flex). Because its easier to adjust a turn radius toeside, having a rail outline and fin placement that is loose is less important than on your heelside where adjustment is tough.

The toeside rail is also slightly more pinched so its easier to dig it in without the volume fighting back against you (again – ankle flex toeside making this harder to control). And finally, the tail design is so that water releasing off the corner “sees” a similar radius right at the point of separation on both rails.

Whatever your custom needs, from slight variations of a great model we already make, to something totally out there, we can accommodate you.

The Blue line across the board above is there to show the centerline, otherwise the nose offset and width difference isn’t obvious.
