About the reviewer

I am a 24 year old student from the Reading, PA area. I have been paddling since I was 12 and paddle flat-water, surf, and whitewater.

Test environment

Blue Marsh Lake

Review

I have the pleasure of living close to the main office of Emotion Kayaks and was lucky enough to be at Blue Marsh Lake when someone who owned an Exhilarator was there and I asked if I could test paddle a kayak since I am looking for more of a fitness 'yak to go along with my other kayaks.
I was pleasantly surprised with the intial stability of the kayak. I didn't feel tippy at all. Next came the actual paddling. This surprised me as well. It is a very fast kayak and was a lot of fun to paddle. I can imagine this boat would be fun to take into some minor surf as well and really carve it up.
The seat back was very comfortable (I believe it was the high back seat) and the molded footbraces were well thought out and there was plenty of leg room.
Next I picked the kayak up to see if it would be easy to transport and load and unload and it was very lightweight and I can imagine would be very easy to handle off the water. The owner of the kayak had it up on a large SUV and didn't appear to have any problems taking it down off the roof or carrying it the 100 yards or so to the water.

Conclusion

I think if you are looking for a new fitness 'yak to add to your quiver I think this would be a great addition. It was very easy to paddle and it was very fast. Not to mention the price of this 'yak makes it worth looking into. It is much cheaper than getting an expensive fiberglass touring kayak just to have a daily fitness kayak. Great Kayak for a beginner or for someone just looking for a fun boat to paddle!
