Coaticook Cedar Canoe As seen on TV (Outdoor Life Network’s “Gear Guide”) "An absolute joy to paddle." This is the total package; unparalleled in esthetics, fit and finish, execution of construction and design, and on-water performance. Initially it proves to be very responsive. Don't hesitate to paddle this canoe in a variety of water conditions because it provides excellent stability, both initial and final. At only fifty pounds, portaging the Coaticook is easy, at times you may delight in this exercise. As beautiful as it is to view, to paddle a Coaticook is to reach the pinnacle of the canoeing experience. It is simply without peer.

Cedar Strip Construction Cedar strip canoes came to pass with the advent of fiberglass. Tongue & groove, or in this case, bead & cove cedar strips are stacked and pressed together while glue is allowed to set, securing the strips in place. Typically the strips are held by staples while the glue sets then the staples are removed. In the case of the Coaticook, the strips are stacked upon one another in a mold and clamped while the glue sets. As a result the seams are tight and free of staple holes. This structure will act as the core of the hull and fiberglass cloth is applied to both the interior and exterior to sandwich the cedar strips. Not only is the Coaticook light, strong and stiff, the finish is exquisite!
