A River Running/ Playboat legacy is born.

Get from the put in to the take out of your favorite river with more control, easier rolling, and incredible comfort. Add unbelievable surfing characteristics, vertical ability, and even big air for those who don’t want to be in the water but over it. Don’t forget that these boats are made from the best materials ever put on the water, cross-linked polyethelene. So the boat will look newer longer, take the hits, and even have memory in case you really crash hard. They will actually return to their original shape if bent with a little heat from the sun or hair dryer.

Is there more? The Fun never ends around here! We have made these boats the driest boats possible. There is not a single hole in the boat other than the cockpit rim. We invented a way to attach all outfitting on the inside of the boat without drilling holes through the hull. We also researched the best shape for a cockpit rim and it is super dry. You can paddle all day with a good skirt/drytop combo and never have to sponge out!

This size seems to be one of the most common. You are less than 210 but more than 160. If you are in this weight category you have a boat to do it all in. This boat fits a long leg and big foot for those taller lighter folks as well.

First boat i bought new and its a joy to own and paddle. For the fact that i am 6ft6in this is one of the smallest boats that i can get into and still walk after and hour (just) The minial outfitting makes it extra light and so easy to carry around.
Have had this boat on all sorts of rivers in scotland from grade 2 to 5 and it is just a pleasure to paddle. It has also got me out of some interesting situations as it is so easy to roll.
All round just a really good boat

I purchased my classic jackson 4fun from the NOC sale in late october of 06. It is the first boat i have ever owned. Although i may be a little light for good play in the 4fun (maybe a 2fun would suit me better) it is a great river runner. i love the boat and dont regret the decision at all, the jackson website suggests you be 185-225 for this boat, but suggests that its an excellent river runner for the tall and skinny people like myself. its extremely easy to roll, or at least it didnt take me long at all to learn to roll it. it would be a great playboat for someone who would fill the boat better, as i can almost do bowstalls and easily flat spin the boat. hope this helps your decision

About me

I am an intermediate paddler, I have been paddling for 4 years but being in the military has limited my access to good paddling areas. I am back in the southeast now and have been paddling much more now.

I have primarily used this boat on the Nantahala river in NC and often at high water just after a good rain. It has also been paddled several times on the Haw in Raleigh. The haw averages about 280 cfs but I have run it between 3000 and 4000 cfs.

The first thing I can say about this boat is it rolls easy. I learned how to roll in this boat and only after owning it about a week. It was that easy. I also love the way this kayak goes down river. Its very forgiving and allows the boater to stay upright and also to really build alot of confidence. Another thing you notice is that its very lightweight. That is great during mandatory portages! The boat is also very comfortable. The seat and hip pads are a soft padded material so no hard seat in this kayak. It comes equipped with the "happy feet" system. Oh yeah, the hip pads are velcro so they are easy to move and adjust.

I would recommend this kayak for any beginner. Its forgiving enough to not be intimidated but its also a boat you will not get bored with very soon. Its a great riverrunner and a good beginner playboat for surfing and stern squirts
