Kids have often asked us, "how come grown ups get all cool stuff on their fishing kayaks!?" Well, young anglers, we've listened and just like we did with our kids whitewater kayak line we have made a specific model for those energetic lighter weight anglers - the Skipper. We often noticed that kids were kayak fishing in shorter, adult-width, kayaks that are really meant for adults.

These young anglers find these kayaks slow and hard to paddle which makes it challenging to keep up with mom or dad. With the Skipper, we've designed its hull from the ground up with the youth fisherman in mind, making it narrow enough so they can easily keep up with adults without getting too worn out or frustrated. The Skipper also offers a stable enough platform for standing while casting just like mom and dad do in our larger adult focused versions. It's no secret that our kids look up to us and want to use what mom or dad use in any sport or activity and this is why we've made the Skipper mirror our larger models with the following standard Jackson Kayak features: comfortable, smaller, hi/lo Elite seat with tackle storage, molded in center Nalgene holder, internal rod storage options, rear flush mount rod holders, rod tip protectors, one RAM track mount for accessories, rear tankwell storage, replaceable skid plate, large front hatch, and some unique deck rigging and tether clips just in case a tow is in need.

Recommended for anglers in the 50 to 125lb range. This certainly still includes many teens, college students, women and some adult men that are looking for that smaller, nimble craft to take on some wild waters that only a light weight kayak can easily access! With the Skipper at the helm for 2016, we feel confident that young kids who grew up fishing with mom and dad in our Big Tuna or Kilroy DT tandem models will now be able to graduate and captain their own fishing ship!

PRODUCT FEATURES

1 - Kids Size
Sized specifically for kids to include them on family paddling and kayak fishing adventures. The perfect way to introduce children to kayak fishing, and develop their comfort level on the water and paddling skills. Narrower to prevent paddle interference from little arms and paddles, but with enough range for kids to use and still grow into over time.

2 - Elite Seat Version 3.0 Narrow
Comes standard with an Elite Seat with Hi/Lo seating. Raises you up off the floor of the kayak for added visibility and ease of standing. Tackle storage is still available on the sides of the seat

3 - Durability
Molded with the same plastic as our whitewater kayaks for high durability. Replaceable skid plate on the stern in the highest wear area. Kid proof.

4 - Stability
Extremely stable hull, offering great platform for children to learn to paddle on their own, and stand and fish. With low deck height, it's easy for kids to enter and exit the kayak. A low parting line and seat configuration provides a low and stable center of gravity. Balanced hull that tracks well, yet it still easy for kids to turn without powerful sweep strokes.

5 - Rod Stagers
Securing rods at arms reach is always an important feature for any fishing kayak. Not only does the Coosa HD come with two RAM rod holders, we have easy access rod securing via our rod staging system shown here. You can clearly see how the bungee holds down your rod butts right at arms reach.

6 - YakAttack Gear Tracks
Located on both sides and in the rear of the kayak, the YakAttack gear tracks are built in to the kayak in easily accessible locations for adding accessories via Yakattack Screwballs and RAM Mounts.

7 - Rod Holder and Stager
Stagers and RAM rod holders are great locations to place items that you need handy but aren’t using at the moment.

8 - Flush Mount Rod Holders
Easily reachable rod holders for the rear paddler, super secure for targeting larger fish.

9 - Heavy duty seat attachment buckle
Durable and tough attachment that will outlast all the use and abuse you can manage, season after season. Keeps your seat locked in position and makes you feel connected to the kayak.

10 - Removable skid plate
We protect the biggest wear area on the kayak with the skid plate. Your keel will last season after season with this smart feature.

11 - Tankwell
Large rear tankwell with bungee to put and secure gear, coolers or tackle. The Skipper also has a unique moveable bungee system. Both sides have YakAttack Gear Tracks with thumb screws that allow you to customize your tankwell.

12 - Hull Storage
Open hull space that allows for safe storage of fishing rods, camping gear, PFD’s, dry bags, etc.. A great way to keep your gear safe when traveling and generous volume allows you to pack enough gear for expedition paddling.

13 - Hinged Hatch
Bow hatch has an awesome hinged systems for opening, keeping your gear safe. Front hatch has a paddle scoop for quick and easy paddle storage when fighting a fish.
