The Loki R is truly a revolution in touring kayak design. The design concept behind this kayak was to embrace technology in order to create a very stable, fast and maneuverable kayak that inspires confidence in all conditions. The R, at 39 lbs, is the lightest and strongest touring kayak on the market today. The unique hull shape provides speed not found in such a stable kayak. The R is often mistakenly placed in the fast sea kayak class at racing events due to its speed, but with a length/beam ratio of 9.1 it actually rates as a sea kayak. It has speed on par with kayaks having ratios as high as 10.8. Now that's efficiency.

Construction details:
Each Loki R is hand built by an experienced craftsman with an extensive background in lightweight, high tech composite construction. The Hull Laminate is constructed with a combination of 80% Carbon Fiber and 20% Kevlar while the deck is entirely Carbon. Unlike other manufactures, we only use the highest quality vinylester resins and UV resistant flexible gelcoats. The deck is bonded to an inward facing hull flange with an adhesive sealant and creates an I-Beam that runs horizontally down each side of the kayak increasing the global stiffness of the structure. This style of hull deck joint requires a special split mold and extra care but is far superior to any other method both structurally and aesthetically. No other kayak is built like a Loki!.

Design Features:
The Loki R has by far the most unique hull shape on the market. The Plumb bow makes the entire length of the boat effective waterline. The bow features a “dry chin” which is unique in the industry and allows weeds and sticks to pass under the hull without catching.
You can enjoy your long waterline for unparalleled efficiency at cruising speeds or while passing all the long, cumbersome sea kayaks in your compact speed machine at the fitness races. When it comes to stability we have really struck a chord. The Loki R has amazing primary stability for its width and a secondary stability that inspires confidence in rough conditions. Is it possible for a very fast kayak to be stable? Yes. Most kayaks have rudders so we thought lets design one specifically to use one. The Smart Track™ rudder system comes standard and is extremely effective for maneuvering and tracking. If you live for edging then this boat isn’t for you. With the rudder retracted it actually turns better when left flat thanks to the rocker in the aft third of the boat. Speed, efficiency, stability, maneuverability and tracking. The Loki R has it all.
