Why name it the Habitat? Here are a few definitions.

..

1) A structure that affords a controlled environment for living in extremely inhospitable locations, such as a 400fpm creek.

2) The place where a person or thing is most likely to be found, in this case, in remote gorges and tight technical canyons.

Have had a secondhand Habitat 80 for about 3 months now.
Past creek boats have included a Pyranha Microbat, Bliss Stick Mystic, Fluid Solo, and Big Dog Force.
I'm about 12stone/85kg give or take with gear on and safety gear in boat. I decided to go the larger habitat for comfort

This boat will float you lightly over any whitewater you take it to, it punches holes and breaking waves with ease, with a high rail/edge to it, it is forgiving, but will power you into an eddy if you throw it on its edge. As for going forward, this is a relatively fast boat, and will surf well if you have a river wave that can accomodate the length.

Outfitting is like any other, you make it like you want it, standard adjusting with screwdriver.

The usual Wavesport quality and solid plastic has seen this second owner getting plenty of life out of this boat still, and will continue for this season, and probably next.

Worth a look at, even among today's new fashionable must have branded boats.

I'm into my third season with my Habitat now and for the money I don't think i can find something I like better. Next year when I replace my creekboat it will likely be another Habitat.

About Me
Class III-IV Paddler, lots of river running, some creeking, some overnighting
Pros / The Good
The Habitat 80 is a really neutrally good boat. It has absolutely no bad habits. This is not a boat that is going to surprise you in a sticky situation. Its relatively quick, turns well, boofs well, resurfaces well. I've found it to be a big confidence builder. It holds a pile of gear in the back if you feel like going overnight too. The outfitting package that comes with the Habitat is perfect. 45 minutes in your living room and you can set up the Habitat like a Cadilac. There is enough foam with it to really pad out the foot and ankle area.
Cons / The Bad
Like every Confluence boat I've seen recently, the plastic sucks. It is very soft plastic and gouges very easily. I also have a Bliss-Stick and a Liquid Logic, both of these have significantly tougher plastic than my Habitat. The good news about soft plastic is that its easy to fix if you bash it in. The bad news is that 30 minutes on a car rack and your boat is conforming to the crossbars (regardless if its upside down, right side up or on its side!).

About the test environment

Low water, bit of a scrape.

Review

Brilliant boat, real confidence booster, not too difficult to adjust to paddling it (I own a Wavesport Z). I only used it on class 2/3 water but I love it.

Conclusion

Somebody buy one for me coz I've got no money to buy my own :(
