Ideal to haul heavy loads on highly-challenging rivers.
One glance shows the Cascade doesn't resemble a typical Wenonah. Most of our models have sharp ends, vertical stems, and a straight keel-line. Those elements make a canoe track straight and travel fast. They are the aspects of a hull made to perform best on lakes or calm rivers.
This canoe has blunt ends, angled stems, and 2" of rocker. It's also quite deep, and is one of our wider hulls. There's no mistaking the Cascade's mission; fast rivers, and treacherous waters.
The Cascade turns and draws beautifully on a strong current. It has loads of seaworthiness and retains it when heavily weighted. Flare fore and aft deflect spray, and at 17'6", it has plenty of room for gear. You can use the Cascade lightly loaded to run rapids just for fun, but its capacity makes it ideal for heavy tripping on swift rivers.
The Cascade also paddles fairly well on quiet water. You can use it for fishing or sightseeing on lakes, but it?s not well suited to long or heavy trips, except on rivers.
Although it has some resemblance to our Spirit II, the Cascade is more specialized. It's more maneuverable and seaworthy, while the Spirit II tracks better on moderate waters. Compared to the Rogue, the Cascade is less maneuverable, but has more capacity.
An excellent design for river use, the Cascade remains undaunted when rocks block your path.
