Oct 11 Social Instagram Here are the videos from my overnighter on the Rapidan and Rappahannock. 1st video is the rapids on the Rapidan with the drops above the confluence. 2nd is the rapids of the confluence itself and my camp site. 3rd is the fishing below the confluence and remnants of an old canal lock. 4th is below Motts Run. I park my truck there for the overnighters. Then shuttle my truck down to Fredricksburg to run the last 5 miles. 5th is the rapids of the I95 area. At the end of that one I do a no handed eddy turn ° been workin on that one. 6th is the Fall Line. I went on the backside of Laucks Island but forgot to hit the record button on Bobs Glasses. I took the left route after Bobs thru the S-turn boulders. Also I didnt ferry over to run Target Rock, I just took the left route. #oceankayak #yakattack #paddleva #kokatat #aquabound #bending_branches #aftco #originalmauijim #nauticsport #kayakkevindotcom

Oct 9 Social Instagram Awesome overnighter over my weekend. I ran from Ellys Ford on the Rapidan to the Rapp then over the fall line. Water level was perfect, running nice and somewhat clear. It felt like summer instead of Oct. There are some BIG fish on this run and real nice rapids. #oceankayak #yakattack #paddleva #kokatat #aquabound #bending_branches #aftco #originalmauijim #nauticsport #kayakkevindotcom

Oct 9 Social Instagram After a year of concentrating all of my attention to the rivers; learning the water, the rapids and the fish, I finally land a trophy 20 inch smallmouth! I loose a lot of fish. I cut my treble hooks to doubles. This keeps me from getting hooked but this also easy for a smallmouth to throw the lure on jumps and headshakes. I saw a 16 incher short strike at the boat, then I hooked an 18 incher that jumped and came undone. I was hurt after that one. I was sure that was going to be the biggest one I was going to see on this trip. When I hooked this one my heart wanted to jump out of my chest! I had to remember to breathe when I saw only one hook in the tip of his bottom jaw. I just held on has he repeatedly dove under the kayak. I finally saw the opportunity to land em and scooped him in. I couldn't believe that this fish was in my kayak! Landed others in the normal nice size on the run, i even had a double on for a second. Crazy aggressive fishies ° #oceankayak #yakattack #paddleva #kokatat #aquabound #bending_branches #aftco #originalmauijim #nauticsport #kayakkevindotcom

Oct 3 Social Instagram Lots of fun with @ric_burnley on the confidential river on sunday. It was at the perfect running and fishing level at 5 foot and pretty clear. Fishin was awesome, I landed the largest smallie at 16'. Ric had one jump off at that size but the biggest fish he landed below the fall line a 18' largemouth! At the falls we took the alternate route. The main drops are on river right. We have done those drops at that level before and we just wanted to do something different. The 'easyer' route is from the far left then cut across to the middle then the left side at the bottom. These are easyer because they are a bit slower than the main drops since they have less water flow. But more technical since they have some odd angles to hit and rocks to avoid. At the last drop Ric skims a rock and flips. Afterwards Ric said 'I thought this was the easy route!?!' ° #oceankayak #yakattack #paddleva #kokatat #aquabound #bending_branches #aftco #originalmauijim #nauticsport #kayakkevindotcom
