I've been looking for an instructional video that would help shed some light on more advanced tricks such as helixes. Any advice? Or for that matter...I can throw the first half of the helix (or flip turn fine) but I'm having trouble preventing my stern from stabbing into the wave before I can rotate the final 70 degrees. Which I suppose would probably work fine on a larger wave, but I'm working with a smaller wave. So...do I need to reach out with my second stroke faster? Are there any web sites that break this down?

if your getting flip turns its not that much further until your can helix.

Flip-Turn you stay on the same blade and slam the strern back into the water to pull you back in to a front surf.

Helix you stay tucked on the front of your boat and let your momentum carry your through the final part of the rotation is rolling up on your opposite blade.

Say your initiating left

1 - go down the wave and initiate a bounce and start your boat spinning left.
2 - using your left blade do a back sweep, and pull your right knee up & towards your head (flipping you upside down)
3- as the sweep runs out of power stay tucked forward & watch the boat rotate above your head.
4- reach around and do a sweep roll with your right blade. (This brings your upright & gives you the final bit of rotation to end up back in a front surf).

Check out Ken Whiting's DVD's for a really good explanation. EJ's Advanced playboating also has an explanation but not as clear. (Although I havn't seen the new version of EJ'S playboating.

Really fun when you stick them, I found medium sized 2-3 ft waves nice when learning (still learning really) enough power & speed, but not too intimidating.

Good luck & Happy boating

i know airforce one redux( corran addisons movie) shows how to do all the advanced wave moves. He slows stuff down and the instruciton is clear, but boring at times. I cant do any of it yet but his instrucional video really helpsme visualize it.
