However, i was wandering how to initiate the stern from the roll, then into the balance. Anybody got a step by step guide for me to try? Thanks, alan

So... half of a hip snap and then CRANK on you paddle and keep your body in the water. The starting position is like the backdeck roll. Good Luck, Whitewaterules

The Party Trick is where you start like a back deck roll. Unless you know a technique that most people are unfamiliar with, please share?

I believe that it is better to start in this position. Then move to the regular sweep position in one motion and initiate to the vertical move. The reason for this in my mind is that it allows you to perform more than one move from one starting point. It is more flexible to practice this way and functional in a real application setting. This is my opinion. There are many moves you can do from this position, adding this as the starting point adds more tricks to the bag.
