Just to say that I passed my 1* BCU kayak course today, as to how good I was is still under debate, the hardest thing was to get the Kayak to track in a straight line (Pyranha G3), obviously not a big thing to some of you guys and gals out there who live in their boats but to me a first time paddler its a good feeling to have at least passed.:roflol:

Excelent and congratulations!

Keeping the kayak in a straight line is what most beginners struggle with, it just becomes second nature after a while.

Anyway good luck moving up the ranking =) I hope you get lots of practise.

Ash.

How about going backwards. I find it funny how you always get somwone who finds it easier to go backwards than forwards.

Yep, that was me as long as I took it steady I could go backwards far straighter, although I did try a Pyranha Burn which caused some probs going backwards but I put that down to it being a Medium and me being a little *cough* on the large side it had a tendency to take on water at the back rim of the cockpit everytime I twisted to look where I was going.
