I used to race, and know many other people who WOULD race if the macho ego part was out of the way.
So, what do you guys think of a race series designed for people as a fun weekend event. I know that many events try to be this, but I'm talking about something different; something that is designed to recapture that feeling of being a little kid and wanted to run around.
Have you ever seen the joy in a kid's eyes when you say \"I'll race you to that tree\"

I think that simple race, a downriver, head to head race is the closest to capturing that experience. But, it would have to be held on class III or IV water to reduce some of the danger and encourage more people to show up.
(I also think that lots of \"smaller\" prizes instead of just one big one would encourage more participation to)

What do you guys think?

That sound awsome, I paddle slalom a little and would love to paddle a big water down river race. And that prizes idea sounds awsome to give the little guy something to shoot for.
