today i decided i would go for a paddle down to the playspot near me, i got on the river and started to paddle downstream, half way down the river was a drunk hypothermic fisherman struggling to get back onto the river bank, he seemed very fatigued so i jumped out of my boat put it on the bank and literelly dragged him out of the water, once he was out of the river i had to pull two guys that were walking close by and ask them to ring for and ambulance because he kept going in and out of conciousness, 20 mins later the police arrived along with the paramedics, they diagnosed him to have been on some sort of drugs and alcohol and he was suffering with hypothermia and shock, the police took my details and praised me for pulling him out of the drink and said i saved his life because any longer and he would of died

so go me lol

Our river communities include lots of folks, doing lots of different things.
Some of them we'd laugh at, some we downright disapprove of.
But it is up to everyone everyday to look out for and act for others in situations like this. I am quite sure that fishermen or the like have 'saved' many a paddler somedays...

But don't feel bad that you didn't get to play. Karma will definitely dictate that you will have many great river play days ahead of you.

i dont feel bad about not playing on the river, im just glad i managed to get him out of the river, he was very lucky i decided to paddle today
