How does your boat shack look like? 18 years 3 months ago #12337

Greetings boaters,

I'm just inquisitive, where do you store your boats? How does your garage/shed/kayak storing room look like? Should be pretty interesting given the wide variety of people on here...

Well, although my boat collection is about to be thinned by one (back to two boats now, erm, let's see that means there's room for a C-1 or a Squirt ;) ) I have my boats tied to the roof of the shed (actually, my garage is kinda like a small house with two (!) levels so the boats are tied to the floor of the first storey), along with my paddle collection. My other kit is in a wooden Ikea rack with crates (in the beginning everything was nicely sorted on type, wetsuits with wetsuits etc. Nowadays the top level stuff is what I use, the rest is on lower levels). My PFD's are hanging on clotheshangers on screws mounted in the wooden rack.

If only I could find the time to clean out the mess, I'd be able to store the open canoe which I'd like to buy to take the family out on daytrips. It's about time the little one gets introduced to paddling *grin*

I'll clean up the worst mess first and send you some ;)

BTW: two years ago I had 7 boats in my garage (two polokayaks, one playboat, two riverrunners and two surfkayaks). Some people figured I wanted to start my own kayakclub *lol*. In a few weeks I sold and gave away most of these boats (I only kept one polokayak) and bought more toys with the money I raised. Humm, our local kayakshops must have loved me for that because in no time I was back to 5 boats...

Actually I now still have three boats (one polo, one playboat and a surfkayak) but I am selling the surfkayak (or rather, have already sold it but the new owner has to pick it up yet). I love it but I don't use it enough to keep it. Besides, I like freestyle more than regular surfing and when I do go out in the surf I'm used to my Flirt (which I paddle at home as well) so I prefer that to the Marauder.

 my wife is really happy that I am buying a c-1 saddle (which can be mounted easily, so conversion of c-1 to k1 or vice versa is simple and fast) rather than getting myself a c-1...

Ok, let me put up mine.. On one side:

Yellow Wave Sport Zero Gravity 54 at the top. Necky Blunt below that. Old one design windsurfer (light blue), in the bag --> RRD Twin Tip 105. Against the wall, old crap thing of my mates and some of his stuff from the ark. On the floor in the front Wave Sport EZG60 (blue/white)
Other side:

Old canoe in the roof, Cleaver K1 on the far wall (Kevlar) and below that another windsurfer (F2 Powerglide). Wave Sport T2 (red), not mine, was keeping it for a mate. (in the corner - upright). Getting pretty busy in there... So lets see some from some other people...

gotta love apartment living...
The playboats are in the storage, the storage is in the guest bedroom, the creekboat (for sale!) is in the kitchen, the touring boat is in buddy's backyard...

Great to hear that people like my van... It used to be a vehicle of the Swiss Post, with the steering wheel on the right...

I've had it for almost 7 years now. I've got a big matress in the back (right above the engine, which stays warm many hours after driving...), so it is indeed sort of a 'love mobile'...

There used to be another thread on 'your paddle wagon' in the general forum but I see the pictures have been lost. Probably when the new Playak layout came out. Here's my transport at the moment:
