Which paddle would you choose? 18 years 10 months ago #12985

I have been paddling with a Sidekick for a while now and really like it, but unfortunately it recently broke. I really like Werner and am going to get another one; so, what would you recomend: another Sidekick (Carbon bent) or the Double Diamond? The Sidekick is bigger and cheeper, but the Double Diamond has foam core. Does the foam core make a difference? Isn't there a chance they could crack and absorb water? Which paddle is nicer? Any info is appreciated!

you should send it back to werner they should fix it for aprox half the price of the paddle or you could just get a new one

The foam core gives it a nicer feel in the water for every stroke. It originally came about for slalom paddler but the playboaters adopted it, Very nice to use in aeratted water not as strong but gives nicer feel! that said no paddle is unbreakable so go for it I will be getting one in the near future aswell

I know several people who have hade problems with water leaking ino their double diamonds, but Werner has great customer service, and they were fixed right away. That being said, they are great paddles, and you will probably love the foam core. Definitely go for one if you've got the cash.:2cents:

I have a DD and it is amazing. It feels like a cheat during a roll. Go with foam core.

if you want a foam core go for the shogun or the new one, i have heard they are stronger

That's because the shogun is a creeking paddle. If you want another playboating paddle, definitely go for the DD
