well, a question like that is going to open up a huge can of worms as everyone will have his/her opinions on different kayaking companies. Id say, as a general rule, kayaking companies are generally on the same page in terms of quality. There isnt really one brand that stands out in either direction as exceptional or terrible. if your looking for boat recomendations its easier to give a recomendation if we know your style i.e. do you want a playboat, riverrunenner, creeeker, a combonation of the above or what. Another thing you can do is go out and demo some boats. Theres no substitute for hopping in a boat yourself.

hey buddy,

go to a kayak school, try a couple out to get a feel. Never go for a spacific brand and alwasy go for a boat that makes life comfortable and easy.

Try out anything that us under 7 feet in lenght, flat bottom and newer. Boats are designed to be easier.

Good luck buddy.

Well look at that: Simple and excellent advise! Without generating controversy
Rare on this site of late! :roflol:
Billy is right on the money. Go try a few at a school. Go for what feels good, works for you and is comfortable.

Have fun!

It was my 1rst season last year and I bought a used pyranha inazone. It is an all around boat that is easy to ride and surf.

I suggest that you buy a used all around boat first cause it is a lot of money to equip for kayaking and it is fun to do different type of rivers.

the pyranha inazone was fine for me. I try a riot booster too and It is a great boat to start too.

If you've got access to someone else's gear, use it first and figure out a few things. If you've made up your mind to buy one, I'll tell you what I know. My first boat that I actually felt good in was a Wavesport Ace, and I loved it. The Wavesport EZ series is very similar, and probably there are more of them around. I would recommend that you get something kind of long, around seven feet long (convert it to metric yourself) and kind of slicey on the edges so that you can learn cartwheels and such pretty easily. Good luck and have fun learning.
