What's in the front of the boat? Nothing, footpegs or foam blocks? Are you wearing shoes?

The XXX is a very small and tight boat. If you have some foam in there already, or none at all, try and make up a foot block that gives more support to your whole foot. If only your toes are engaged it could be a little uncomfortable. Try to improve the contact area and support on the sole of your foot - my advice

If you're wearing shoes with a stiff/thick sole, you might not be able to get that comfortable either.

Try the foam though. Not sure if this helps, hope so! Cheers.

Agree, with adrian, footrests are seriously useful, but if you cant get any then eat a banana before you go paddling....dont really know any scientific reason for it, but it will help!!

Cramps come from a lack of potassium. and Banannas have tons of potassium! and that is why it helps

i paddle a xxx also, and im a lil over 6' and 140!!!!
anyway, i love it, but it took me a while to get it outftiied right, do u paddle constantly, for how long, and a thin layer of foarm is all that would fit for me, but it defiently helps, i also sanded a hole in the middle pillar, if u know wat im talking about, and it lets me feet touch slighly, and put more force in when im throwin down.

Actually no one is sure why cramps occur. There may be multiple contributing factors to cramping. Some believe it is an electrolite imbalance. Potassium is an electrolite, but there are others electrolites also. Banannas may help you but that does not mean that, \"Cramps come from a lack of potassium.\"

This is how i think of it. I eat banannas i dont cramp if I dont I cramp. So i extrapolate that its from a lack of what ever is in banannas

Exactly! This is no scientific method. It is nothing more than an assumption, based on what you have heard in the past and what you would like to believe. Then it is suggested as truth. It is a farse.

Bananas have helped me. But usually eating more fruits and veggies help me too. Lots of water because being even the least bit dehydrated can make my legs cranky.

I also found that quinine (old coach's trick) worked for me often. but, there's a warning label on tonic water because of the quinine. Don't know why, but I guess some people don't deal with it well.

Keep experimenting and you'll figure out what works for you.

Dude it was a very small playboat from the cartwheel era ie great for cartwheeling but lack of footspace which could be causing the problem! what size feet do you have how tall etc maybe try another boat

It may not entirely be a farce: supposedly bananas and strawberries contain the the same stuff that makes chocolate \"work\". Dunno what it's called but it seems to make one happy. What if the guy is sensitive to that and relaxes enough to make his cramps go away?

BTW: I read this about the fruit & chocolate in a book about children's food, having a little toddler walking around the house has it's advantages every now and then ;)

Something I noticed when having a go in other people's playboats is that completely removing footblocks makes it worse. Im quite tall so that is the quickest way to fit into a borrowed boat but without correct support, parts of your foot have to be tensed to get support from whatever random bits of hull happen to be in contact with it. This always makes me cramp and stop long before any pain from simple tightness does in other boats.

Welcome to kayaking

But in all seriousness i pretty much have this problem in every playboat seeing that im 6.4 but i have found a couple of thinks that work depending on how much room u have i would seriously think about purchsing a set of jacksons happy feet i have a set and i love them if you can fit that then i would consider something as small as wearing neopreane booties because this forms a cushion between you ankles and the boat allowing blood to flow through longer but eventually it will cramp up
