Currently, I am using a Harmony LC1 EZ. I have used it on a RAD 195, Large Flirt (a little too big), Super EZ and an H:3. Lots of rubber around the rand to make a good seal. I am happy with it and it has a nice long tunnel (good for a bigboy). With my old Bomber decks I would use paddle wax on the underside of the combing to help make a better seal.

How do you like the new boat? Is it quite different form the older boat?

I havnt tryed a older version of the super fun. But im loving this one. There so much room inside. The only problem i had was that i had to put foam behind the happy feet and i wasnt getting tight enough inside. So if your over 6 foot you wont have to put in some foam.

Ill check the peak freestyle deck, hope fully there do a big deck

They dont do a big deck as the keyhole one fits bigdeck boats well! Its stretchy and will give you a drier fit. Just wet the latex and the cockpit rim before you put it on to help or eat some spinnac and grow muscles like popeye!

seriously get one in a key hole leave it on the boat over night if you have to they get easier to get on with use.

Whats the difference between a rand deck and a shockcord deck, would a rand deck be more dryer?

Shock cord is shock cord around the bottom to hold it on rand is a very thick rubber band, personally i think the palm decks are way over priced and leak like sieves due to the ammount of stitching they stupidily use!

A shock cord is like a bungie cord attached to the skirt that fits on the underside of the cockpit combing. Some companies do this in different ways...compare nookie, snap dragon and seal. Some companies combine a shock cord with a kevilar rand in an attempt to make the edges of the deck last longer. Rubber rands create a larger sealing sealing surface that may go under the combing or start on the underside and go over the hole lip of the cockpit to create a greater seal. Bomber used to use a 2cm rubber rand and a kevilar rand on some of their decks.

I had mentioned the harmony deck before. One of my paddling buddies is really enjoying the nookie deck he has but it looks a little different (a shock cord with extra material that sticks out 4 cm beyond the cord). Some of the guys I paddle with are using cheep brooks decks with rubber rands on their dagger crazy 88's because they seal well on that boat and use snap dragons on their creek boats because they don't implode (someone will probably tell you something different). My wife likes her new immersion research deck.

Sometimes it is trial error and luck to find that deck that fits the boat you are paddling. Usually that's when I do something stupid like put a hole through it or forget it at home...I always have a backup deck in my kit but it may not be the one I want.

You could always try a Mountain Surf. I have never heard anything but praise for the Dur-O Ring skirt. That will be the next skirt I get. They have tons of sizes so you can get a good fit. They even have new Jackson boat sizes. I think the SuperFun is a J4. Check out their site. Go to the page that has boat sizes.

The Nookie deck is the Nookie V-Shock Deck. They've just released new decks with improved protection on the top and a super tight fit. And they do V-shocks in Big Deck size. I swear by 'em.

I've used the HF Kevlar Big Hole on all my JK's since 2004. Fits perfectly, very good quality! Goes also on all Eskimo's, Prijons and Pyranha....

Try, you won't be dissapointed!

Jayson,
I demoed the new Super Fun over the last 2 days and loved it. Comfier than my Mamba and super easy to roll. I used a Nookie v-shock full dry lip (bigdeck size) and a Playboater Workdeck (bigdeck size), both very dry but hard to get on unless wet. The cockpit on the Super fun is bigger than the Mamba and I think a keyhole deck would be too hard to get on. The Nookie drylip deck was totally dry and about the only bit of Nookie kit I would buy again.

Have to also recommend Mountain Surf . Got one around Christmas and love it. Seems to be bombproof and I know people who are into their fourth year of fairly serious paddling with theirs.

Hi all

I ended up buying a palm rt rand kevlar deck. its the dryest spray deck ive ever had. Its real hard to get on at first but it soon moulds to the shape of your cockpit rim. Thanks for all the advice
