Flatwater Cartwheel 18 years 3 months ago #14208

Hi

I'm struggling to keep my momentum when I get to my third end and am wondering if it is because I don't get the boat vertical?

wWth out watching you this will be very hard to determine, Try leading with your head and keep your rotations ahead of your boat. This will pre load your body (think of a windup toy) as long as you can rotate faster than your boat then this should help! Also try slowing the movemens down keep your weight central and lead with your head!

I can probably make it to the pool session in the blind school in pershore (near worcester) if that helps

It will come with time and practise keep trying you will get there eventually what boat are you using for this as I learnt in a glide back in the late 90's and could get 3-4 ends max on the flat, a slicey playboat would help, or better still beg borrow a squirt boat this will make things easier and you will feel the movements and it will be slower and easier to control

I had a similar problem, only my mistake was not having the paddle parallel to the boat.

Some people find it easier to have the boat in a less than vertical angle but with proper paddle position I find it way easier to have an almost vertical angle. I guess I lack the stomach muscles to do otherwise ;)

Try throwing your 3rd end clean. (no paddle). This will help with your balance. Once you can get the 3rd end clean, you'll be able to do your 4th, 5th and 6th a lot easier with your paddle.
