HELP! 18 years 3 weeks ago #14607

I'm brand new to the sport of kayaking. Last year I went down some whitewater in a cheap inflatable and loved it. This year I decided to invest. I bought a 7' Dagger Ego from a seller on ebay claiming he was 6'2\" 165lbs and it fit him fine. I am about 5'9\" and 170lbs so i figured it would be a good fit. I can't even get my legs tucked into the damn thing. It doesn't look like the seat can be adjusted farther back either. Help me!!! Did I get ripped off or what?

OK, PS, I have now figured out that I am able to get my legs in with just my knees stick out slightly. Is this the right way to sit? Sorry to be such a newbie everybody.

ok you should fit fine in a Dagger Ego. This is how I get in my boat.

Sit just behind the cockpit
then sit on your right hip and scoot your right leg all the way in the boat tucking your knee into the knee cup.
Then halfway in halfway out scoot your left leg in.

If that doesnt work check if the foot rest is to big for you.

If all else fails take it to your local shop and see what they can do for you.

Your weight puts you about 20lbs over the recommended upper range for the Ego, however your height shouldn't be causing you problems.

Your knees should be pointing outwards underneath the thigh braces. It would be worth contacting someone locally with paddling experience to get yourself started off. It would save you a lot of guesswork initially…
