what kayak is better 18 years 2 months ago #14685

hi im new to the sport and i have a K1 slalom boat, tho im quite sure a play boat is for me. iv had a paddle of a wave sport play boat and love how easy they turn and the control you can have in one. my question is, will i have more ability to through the boat around n pull off tricks easier in a boat where my weight is at the upper limits of the boat, or can you still play as good in a boat where your weight is at the lower limit.
i will also probable paddle in the flat water alot so i will want to learn more flat water tricks n play on the flat more often then white water, as my nearest white water is 2hrs away. tho i would like to paddle in the surf as well cause thats only 5mins away. im just unsure of the compromise.
thanks all

A smaller boat will help you to progress on flat water, but on real river features a slightly bigger boat is easier and will make bigger tricks.

Looks like your best bet is to get a boat that fits you nicely so that you fall somewhere in the middle of the suggested weight range.
