hi there, i have purchased a 4-tenty with rapid +,i have to say i think that the outfitting is awful so i have ordered some bits n bobs to upgrade it to connect 30 but the guy on the phone told me that i would need to get new thigh braces aswell as they are different,is this the case because they look pretty similar to me and is there a kit you can buy that has everything in it to upgrade rather than buying all the bits seperately as this starts getting quite costly once you start adding it all up? thanks

I havent seen the outfitting for a while but why did you not get the connect 30 version in the first place rather than upgrading everything inside your boat. But you will probably need the new thi braces as well.

Pyranha used to offer a BAse version of their boats and dealers were given a BAse station with all the upgrades on so they could up a bit at a time however they found most just went through it all and found out they saved money buying the top end version at the time so the next season it was dropped and the boats could not be upgraded as easily. Also it could be worth checking as I thought that changing outfitting voids your warrenty???

thing is the boat was going for £450 compared to almost double that for the connect 30 and i thought how much different could the outfitting really be to justify the difference,with hindsight i wish i hadn't been so stingy cause the rapid + is truly awful,after a couple of minor rolls your virtually sitting on the back rest,

Another option change the back band to Immersion Research flex capicitor about £40. It comes with ratchets on the back but works really well. Liquid logic use them in their boats. To fit the ratchets to the front takes some imagination, you need a loop either side for the back strap to run through. bolt the ratchets to the thigh braces. For the seat and hips loadsa of camping roll mat and evo stick should do the trick:D

hi im having exactly thes same problem so can you tell me which parts you orderd to upgrade or from which site cause i cant find the parts and as far as i know the rachet buckle can be bolted onto the rapid + thigh braces

as you have already figured Rapid + is not intended as an upgradable system. The differences go far beyond the backband and if you want a top spec boat you really should head straight for the Connect 30. I also need to point out that any alterations to your boat will invalidate the warranty.

Having said all of that you can get the Connect 30 bits to change the backband if you want to go down that route. We do not produce a pack because we do not recomend the change.

the bits you'd need at it's lowest/cheapest would be>

1 X set of C30 thigh braces with ratchet buckles £49.95
1 x set of webbing runner plates £14.95
1 X webbing strap £8.95
1 X pair ratchet straps £8.95
If you want to change the actual backband as well then instead of the webbing strap and ratchet straps then choose a connect 30 backpad and strap kit £54.95

Unfortunately not. There are other important differences as well which making the Connect 30 boat in the firts place (assuming that's what you want) the best thing to do.

i am aware that the rapid + version is only designed for grade 3 downwards as the grab loops are not strong enough to get you out of sticky situations like a vertical pin over grade 3, i would be using the boat on the rivers its designed for but would still like the comfort of the connect 30 even if my use of the boat on certain rivers was still limited
