Try a Peak UK Freestyle deck in a keyhole size they now have a US store and they are very well priced well made and have a dry lip. Hope this helps

Check out Mountain Surf's fit list . I have no affiliation with them, but find them excellent.

I was leading towards the Mountainsurf skirt but they are pricey. I am a second year playboater and was trying to keep the costs down. Do you think it's worth buying a used skirt?

It's true they're quite expensive. I've only had mine for about six months, but a few guys I paddle with have had theirs for over 3 years of serious paddling now and they are in perfect condition, so the investment may be worth it.

As regards buying one used, I guess it's down to what sort of condition it's in…

I've seen the odd Moutain Surf deck here and they look sweet. I've got 3 Palm decks already and they have given me great service. One of my mates bought a Palm in 1998 and it still works just fine. I know Chris will tell you how much they leak because of too much stiching used. Mine are alright. My :2cents: . I haven't had experience with other decks, except for a locally made one here. Buy new. A nice, new, stiff deck is great for playboating. :D

Thanks for the help. Mountain Surf has the G-Skirt out. Reasonably priced at $110. Bungee Corded. I am gonna poke around the web and see if I can find anyone who has some experience with it and what their thoughts are.

DO NOT get the bungee Gskirt. I have a 52 and it shredded mine to bits. The friction between the skirt and the rachett system tore four holes in my skirt within two months! You absolutly need a skirt with the aramid outside lining. Dont waste your money, buy the right thing!!!

I already purchased the G skirt. Thanks for the info. I'll have to try and pad that area or something.
Haven't noticed any damage yet.

yes definitly. Skirts tend to sag/implode on the projects because of cockpit design. I use a beach ball to level out the skirt and lift it off the cockpit a tad bit.

How do you mean, \"Use a beach ball\"?

Re:P52 Skirt 18 years 4 hours ago #16544

He means he puts a beach ball between his legs and inflates it ot add volume and stop the deck from implodeing If you do this make sure you have a competent roll, because it will make it very hard to get out if you capsize, another way to take the deck off the ratchets would be to buy an IR over thruster there just as good but they dont impede your exit.

Re:P52 Skirt 18 years 2 hours ago #16548

Thats what I thought he meant. Doesn't sound like something I would try, even though my roll is reliable on either side.
I'll look into the Over Thruster. Thanks, B
