So many places. Right around quebec city there is the Jacques-Cartier River.
There are park and play spots on that river in Tewksburry (runs all season).
There are is a good section north of Donnacona (about 30 minutes from town). Which is huge in the spring then mellows through the season. By late fall it is good for learning.
There is a river that feeds into the St-Lawrence (across from Quebec City) which is apparently runnalbe.
In the spring there is the St-Charles river which offers some good play up at the top. The river runs right through Quebec. It is really dirty the rest of the year. (people are pigs... just a general statement)
Montreal (2.5 hours away has the lachine rapids (year round).
In Valleyfield (the other side of montreal) there is a manmade paddle spot on the riviere St-Charles (same name different river). It has a couple decent waves to play on (I am there from April to november).
Expo 67 is downtown Montreal and runs all season though it changes shape from day to day.
There are a whole lot more rivers in the Quebec area. Ther eis a good book out (published this spring) and unfortunately I forgot the name. But I will get bck with it. IT lists all the rivers that are currently paddled in quebec with the access and water level info. Include the known hazards too.
I am working out of town but will be home by the end of the week. The book is at home. When I get there I will post the name of the book and where you can get it.
There are a ton of places up north too.
You will not have problems finding places to go.

CLick on the e-mail button for me and drop me a line.

The season is over for us here (I am not a big winter paddler) it is time to take out the boards and snowshoes and hit the hills!.
We start up again locally in the last week of march. The local creeks are fun and some local waves are good.

Will be more than happy to add others to our paddling group.

Keep in touch and we'll have a great season.

If you want to go boarding with us sometime let us know as well.

Dude,

The paddlers are cool everywhere.

Can't say a lot about the rivers around the island of montreal. I have not spent much time paddling there.I went out to the Lachine rapids once. Great waves and a good time. A certain dubious odor in some spots along the shore though.

Evenings afterwork are spent playing in Valleyfield. Unfortunately there is the occasional "off smell" there at times too.
(The Champlain Brdge in Ottawa suffers from the same disease at times as well)
It seems unavoidable near the major cities.
On a possitive note: this year in October there was a river clean up in Ottawa at Island park.
This kind of action helps to keep things cleaner. Hopefully with time it will catch on more and in more areas.

Hey, I am not sure if rivers are runnning in the end of march in quebec city.
They get a whole lot of snow ans it ussually buggers offby early april.
However: Here around montreal will be good.
What size water you want to paddle: Valleyfield is ope year round and it is class 2 and 3 playspots.
Lachine rapids (class 4 and in places 5) ahould be open and expo 69 as well.
I will look into the rivers around quebec. I will get back to you on those.
Drop me an e-mail when you know you are coming and we can hook up.

If the ice is out, the Lachine Rapids are the place to be in Montreal.
Never been to Expo 67 but I am told it is good but gets reall crowded.
In the spring there is also a couple other playspots near montreal which I will get back to you with.
I am still waiting to see if the river thatruns through Quebec City is open in the spring.
The play spot in valleyfield will give you some air on the top wave.
Then you can always make the not so long trip to Ottawa and play at the Champlain Bridge. the wall is good at that time of year.
More info to come later.

No worries.

When you are close to coming here drop me a line and we'll hit the waves!!!

I can drive up to Quebec City too. Last fall we placed some rocks in a stream at my Inlaws propertly near the airport in Quebec. If we are lucky there will be a nice (small but nice) hole to play in!

TODAY: +5 celcius and sunny. The ice is melting and we are heading to the river in Valleyfield!!!!
Supposed t oget cold again tomorrow so see ya!

Yup: in Montreal you can rent from Base Camp www.basecampmtl.com/services.html
They are an excellent crew and have a good selection of rental boats and gear.
In Quebec City there is an MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-Op: www.mec.ca) and although I am not 100% sure you mightbe able to rent at Boreal Designs. They have a great stope and deal in whitewater too. www.borealdesign.com/_en/mc/index.php
Check with these 2 places before you come down.
