Burn or Jefe 17 years 10 months ago #15857

Having trouble deciding on which boat to buy. Let me start out by sayin I'm 170 6'1 I have a 30 inch waist size 11 shoes. I've been leaning towards buying a Medium Burn but other have pointed me towards the jefe. I'll be going on some category 3-5 runs in the boat but I will also take it on some flat water as some friends of mine float the rivers here not much in the way of whitewater. Which boat do you think would be better suited?

The main difference between them is that the burn has a flatter, edgier hull and the jefe has a rounder, softer hull. So it comes down to what your personal paddling style works best with. Ideally, try to demo each one on some whitewater to get a feel for that (make sure to get the outfitting set up right for you or you wont get a true impression).

I personally think the Burn would be faster in flatwater and holds a line better. If you are creeking it, or doing any overnights go with the large burn. Jefe is a good creeker too, but will be a bit more of a slog on the flatwater paddles.

Yo darin. Now that you're on team JK and all you are probaly paddling a mega rocker. On your next trip can I just climb in the back. I am really needing some good class V. Great Falls is too high for some lines and too low for other. Plus, my new creeker is taking so long to come on the mail.
Pretty Please:lol:

I haven't paddled the Jefe so can't make a comparison but i did demo a Burn and came away from it exited and disapointed at the same time.
The burn is a boat of two halves. The hull is sweet. fast and very manouverable one of the nicest i,ve paddled.
The outfitting sucks though. Couldn't bring myself to spend the 1200 euro it costs in my country only to re outfit the out fitting.
Its your call and your cash at the end of the day and this is only my personal opinion.
Have a look at the Wavesport and Bliss stick offerings in this catagory.
Both have exellent and comfortable outfitting and both paddle real nice too.
After trying a pile of boats out I eventually bought a Bliss Stick SCUD.
Having previously owned a Dagger Nomad this was a bit of a change for me. This boat hadn't even been on my consideration list but while i was in between boats a buddy loaned me one for a spin down my local grade 4 and I had a blast.
It has its faults too but ones i can live with. I won't be winning any races in it for a start.
