Hey all...

I know that this has been discussed many times but I cant seem to find my specific answer...

i am teaching myself the BD Roll... i have no prob setting up and going over in the backwards position. I have watched the videos, Surveyed the pictures but for some reason i can sem to get back up:frustrated: I get about half way to the surface and im back over! and rolling my normal way...

I should add that i am getting the boat over my head (with the occasional bump to the helmet)

What is the missing link here?

Thanks for the help

As your doing it imagine rolling the boat over your hips, this helped me when I was learning and remember to flick your wrist once the sweep stage of the roll is over to set you up for the final stage of the roll.
Good luck

Heya,
Try doing it just like a hand roll, finish the move lying on the back deck.
It is almost an IDENTICAL motion to a hand roll, especially the timing of the hip snap - very early, at the very beginning. After that it does not really matter if you go forward with your paddle and body or not.

Hope it helps
