Hi all

This is my first post on this forum. Im looking to get back into paddling after a little break and im looking for a new boat.

I want a good playboat/ river runner.

I was looking at the pyranha 420 rapid and the perception blaze. Has anyone any comments on these?

Im willing to buy a seperate river runner and playboat. So if anyone can suggest two good boats or one good one that will do both i would be grateful.

thanks

what i would recimend is not getting a playboat and a river runner, but getting a playboat and a full on creeker. You can run most bigger volume stuff in a playboat with a little getting used to, and for creeks you won't have to used a compromised riverrunner. Suggestions for a playboat are tough since there are so many good ones out there.... i'd say any of the newer playboats from any of the major companies(420, project, newer stars, agent etc) should all be fine, and you can narrow down your search by trying them to see which one fits you. Creekers i'm not so sure about, but you can always try to demo a few at you local shop. i would discourage you from getting the blaze, as it is a VERY compromised design and will probably only serve your needs as a river runner.

size?

wavesport project... I am a huge Pyranha fan but look at the wavesport Project series for playboat.

River runner... what rivers do you plan on kayaking? Plan on expedition style paddling?

Being that you are right on the Moray Firth there is some awesome surf that comes through...especially over at Lossie. and the spey upstream of aberlour has some fun bounce I would get a playboat and then look for a creek boat for heading to the highlands...

Funny to say but you are inthe area that I learned to kayak... I grew up just outside of Fraserburgh

I plan on buying the 420 for a bit off a laugh and maybe learning to surf off lossie as well. I have watched the guys before and it looks like great fun.

As a creek/river runner the other one was a pyranha h3 but ill have a look now at what you suggest laddie.

Living in america!! thats what i want to end up doing or new zealand. I just have to find a job as an aircraft tech thats all.
