Question before I go hacking away... 17 years 8 months ago #16859

Surprisingly, after having my Dagger RPM for 2 weeks now, I just realized I can't really get my feet into the boat w/ my water shoes on (fine barefoot). The problem is my heels contact the vertical support, and don't quite have enough room to fit. I was planning on cutting out a chunk of foam to accommodate my feet, however directly above is a large cutout for the foot brace to slide back and forth, and I'm wondering if cutting out any more would affect the integrity of the center support??

I made a quick drawing to help explain what I'm talking about. The green rectangle is what I'm considering cutting out to accommodate my feet.

My common sense would tell me that it shouldn't be a problem due to the remaining material fore and aft of it, however I just wanted someone else's opinion before I go hacking away at the center support.

Thanks

Hi, this is a very common way to increase footroom in your kayak so go ahead.

It won't hurt the integrity of your boat at all. At least it has not on any of the boats I did that ;)
