New Kayak? 17 years 8 months ago #16918

Howdy All, I'm pretty new here...So I hope theres no major posting etiquette's I'm missing, sorry in advance if there is.

I had recently gotten my first kayak, a Perception Swifty 9.5, it really is a great little rec. kayak and I love it to death! I am however looking to get into some whitewater and stuff, and realize my kayak isn't suited for that.

I'm still not real sure on what I need, or even want. I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm mainly looking to get a used kayak, and have a few in mind, but want your opinions. This is what I'm looking to do. I live right near the Susquehanna River In PA, so I'm on that alot. I'm looking for something that can run whitewater on rivers, as well as some creeks in the fall and spring when the water's nice and high. Occasionally on vacation or something I may try do so some surfing, but thats like once a year. Playboating is not real high on my priorities, I want to be able to roll, and maybe attempt a stern squirt or something...I am including a link to a youtube video that shows essentially what I am hoping to do, so you guys can get a better idea.

I have found someone on here selling a used Perception Sparc, I am beginning to think it might be around what I want. Any help, advice, recommendations, what to look for in a [used] kayak or whatnot is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot guys!

I'm like 5\"7\"-5\"8\" and weight like 150lbs ish. I would gladly take a class, in fact I would love to. I just don't know of anything around here. I have some people to go with etc. and am really just looking for what to look for in a boat, and what models would fit what I'd like to do.

look around, do some rsearch into the diff boats and what is avalible in your area. Then I would post back...

You want to either get a river runner or creeking boat... something longer then 7 feet with lots of volume...

for ideas: look in the archives. there are just too many to list.

Rather then double posting I figured I'd just edit this.

I visited a store today, and decided for what I want to do and where I'll be going. That I am going to pursue getting a Playboat. I'm currently looking into maybe a dagger G-force or something along those lines.
