Hi all, I recently ran a 42ft drop on the Elands River in South Africa. You can read about it and see pictures and video here: lifebywater.com/linesandblunts/?p=120

Anyways, the reason for this post: When i ran it i thought it was a 1st Decent but a few days later i found out it had been attempted once before except this guy swam at the base.
Now, was my run still a 1st D? Because i know if you attempt a world record drop and swim it doesn't count.
The article says \"the first successful decent\", should it just be \"first decent\"?
I'm interested to know what your thoughts are because i've heard it from both sides? :ask:

Thumbs up to Chris for trying it though. I think he ran the drop above the standard run at Montrose too? Nice one Scotty! Keep up the stoke!!! I enjoyed the pics, the video and the article. Can't wait for summer

scottyr Topic Author Offline Platinum Member Posts: 247 Thank you received: 0	I know what you mean, its just that i'm a new generation paddler here in SA and i don't want to be \"stepping on any toes\" especially on the pioneering paddlers in South Africa. Chris did the first descent of the Upper Sabie and the only descent of the top drop at Montrose. You know, keep the respect intact?

You have to be fair to the fellow that attempted it. I would have to ask how you might feel if the table was turned? Although if you speak to him and he agrees, then good on ya. Either way congrats and nice pictures!
