If you had your rathers.... 17 years 8 months ago #17117

Would you rather... and why?

Have 15 days of solid class V kayaking or..

Would you rather have 25 plus days of all kinds of padlling with some class V included or..

One week paddling vacation to one of the many paddling destinations in the world? and where would it be?

Just curious... something that my friends have discussed from time to time.

Cheers.

15 days of class V, no contest.

I would have 25 days plus with various types of padling.

15 days with pushing the limits every day is just too much. I like to have days in between, where you go easier and practice on the simple things.

If I were to paddle every day in 15 to 25 days, I would even consider a day or two non-paddling days in between.

Yes 25 days of varied paddling please. Multiple days of class V is just mentally too draining for myself. And I like variety - river running and some playboating mixed up.

25 Days of everything for sure, it would be better to have a rest on some grade 2 for a day or so, then paddle up the harder stuff.

25 days of mixed - but then I am 55 now and not as young as I used to be.

once paddled the Chattooga 49 straight days in a row without a day off and loved it. Most of it was on Section IV , but we also did Overflow and Chauga for variety when the water came up. Can't remember it ever getting boring.

Now playing boatball once a week to keep in shape and tuned up. Great fun when no water in rivers. Anyone can play and it is as aggressive as you want to play it, just remember it is supposed to be a non contact sport!

HUMMMM... I would also go for the 25 days of PARTYMIX, as I'm new to the sport, I would get to know the different aspects of the sport and choose what I really like the most and it would also be good to accentuate my learning curve...

I'd go for the 25 days of mixed paddling but would probably trade in the days of class V boating for some rock climbing and/or some long distance running.

Being not much of a hair boater myself (I prefer to stick to class III rivers, with occassionally a class IV run, max) and loving more than just paddling I'd rather not spend all my spare time on paddling ;)

I'm all for some hair boating, but 15 days of solid class V is seriously taxing. I reckon by the end you're so stressed that it won't even be enjoyable anymore. 5 days is hard enough, provided we're talking real class V (like the stuff that is a real threat on your life).

So 25 days of mixed for me. :)
