I am 165 pounds and bought a brand new pyranha recoil the large size which the paddler weigth is 165 to 230 pounds.. Should've i got the medium one which is a weight of 140 to 180 and if so what would the advantages and disadvantages of having the big one

Please help i am brand new at this

Yeah, you more than likely should have gone for the medium. Because you're at the bottom of the weight range for the large one you'll find it a lot more difficult to manouver and throw around than you would the medium.

At a claimed volume of 61 gallons it is big but not huge. The boat will be more forgiving in river running situations for your weight. The boat will ride higher in the water and probably won't be as edgy. Because of the added volume you'll be more retentive in a hole but that said, it will be slower and harder to throw around. If your aim was to have a boat only for playing then you've maybe made the wrong choice. Just my thoughts.. :2cents:

How do you feel in it? If you're happy paddling it then that's great. ;)
