Seamgrip for gaskets? 17 years 7 months ago #17595

I've just experimented with this stuff:

mcnett.baron-co.com/page.cfm?pageID=549

on a test piece of gasket material from an old dry top. So far, it seems a bugger to work with, not bonding together very quickly. It sticks to my hands very nicely but not much else. Has anybody used this for the repair of dry top gaskets??? Hope so... ;-) I tried to let both surfaces dry and then put them together but the result is the same.

I know this stuff is great:

As I've used it on a dry bag and a dry top and it works wonders! But it's tricky to get hold of here. The one shop that sells it is a little far and I don't want to drive there unless I have to.

I'm hoping that I'm jumping the gun and the seamgrip will work.. Or perhaps I've wasted my time and money. I'll be putting in new wrist and neck gaskets into a Palm Extrem dry top that I've got. The top itself is perfect but the gaskets are shot..

Thanks :D

Looks like I'll just go and get some other stuff. I don't trust that seam grip. It didn't hold up very well on a test piece :naughty:
