The warmest part of your body is your crotch

try mountain surf creek or oven mitts, or nrs mambas if u want to be able to paddle w/bare hands.. otherwise 2mm or higher neoprene gloves work well.

try heat pads.

boil them so they are charged, then when u get off the water press the button. instant heat!!!

Thats actually a myth - well for guys anyway. In order for sperm to survive they need to be stored at 2 degrees cooler than your normal body temperature, so therefore as a general rule your crotch is that tiny little bit cooler than the rest of your body :)

Thats why your balls are in a sack so to speak.

Do your balls hang low?
Can you swing em to and thro?
Can you tie them in a bow?

I think pogies are the only way to go. Even in the winter I find my hands sweating if I havn't been rolling a lot. Gloves are hit and miss, they tend to wear out too quickly. I like being able to get in and out of dry boxes and drybags without dealing with taking the wet gloves off as well. If you do go pogies just make sure they have a fairly short cuff and are very easy to get on and off. Kokatat, Snapdragon, Mountain Surf and NRS all make pretty similar ones, just make sure you can get your hands in them with minimal effort, keeps less water out but key while river running and creeking.

i always use surgeon's gloves at this time of year. they are pretty cheap by the 100. they take away the wind chill factor and still feel as if you're not wearing anything. they break every now and then, so better take some extra with you (as said, they are cheap...).

if it's too cold for surgeon's gloves, i don't go paddle :stop:

i've tried then down to -10 degrees centrigrade though :)
If you're happy, you're successful.

Pogies run in the range of $20-30 about on par with decent neoprene gloves. I've used mine down to about 20 farenheight, which is about comparable to -10 centrigrade. I don't think I would go if it's any colder either :) Once the water starts feezing to your gear while you are paddling you know it's cold. Hands were warm though, until I had to hand paddle for a few, but they warmed back up in the pogies.

If you have any money left over after buying a kayak, then sure get some nice specialised gloves, but I think I've found the most effective and cheapest way.... go down to the pound shop (99 cent store/ whatever you guys have in your country) buy some cheap woolen gloves and some cheap rubber kitchen gloves to go on top and your hands stay warm, dry and you don't loose any grip or feel from your paddle!
This cost me £1.75 so now i can laugh at all them people who have spent loads on expensive gloves from the kayak shop!

Yes it will, if go playing bad games like polo on a river or stuff like that. And after that, your hands will still freeze of. But it will take more time then without any gloves.

go get insulating gloves at a tractor supplies store and then go to a one stop shop store and get long sleeved kitchen gloves and put them on first and now water will get in.

I got a pair of diving gloves which are good at keeping your hands warm and are obviously water proof!

Only trouble is at first it feels like your hands are restricted in movement though once you wear the gloves a few times you adjust to it plus you usually get added grip wiv diving gloves! think they cost £14.99[/color:a1aa9dd4b6]

well there are heaps of things you can do one is always move your arms. If ur hanging around eddies alot then put a pair of surf dive neoprene gloves then when you come too boat take them off for good power and control
also your wrist seals slow the circulation to your hands so look at them
if im hanging around a eddie or some thingi will tuck my handys in my BA
but the big thing is just keep the moving and be a man about it

[/color:3cc2c968ce] long sleeved kitchen gloves are the way to go. Pretty water proof, plenty grip and extra high visibility yellow usually. doesn't tire the forearms.. :meditate:
