uk vs us

uk is a tiny land mass in comparison to the us.
the uk has tiny hills compared to the uk

The us is a large continent (or almost) the uk is a small island.

Treat the US in kayaking terms like Europe as a whole. They have their Norway's and their Alps' and in some corner they even have boating just like the UK. The grading system is roughly the same but this changes from person to person never mind country to country. All the brands are the same as most of the brands are American anyway.

They name every rapid even if its just a little ripple and some of the names are hilarious. My favourite is in Colorado called the Room of Doom. They call stoppers Hydralics and there is some other lingo you'll get used to. Anyway some world class boating there but the country is huge, you have to pick the right state, which are about as big as European countries.

Yes in fairness US is bigger but quailty over quantity.

I suppose to get both sides gotta paddle US otherwise you don't know the diffrence.

Im afraid there is a lot of good quality boating in the US that we just dont get in the UK. If you live the in right parts of Colorado, North Carolina, Oregon etc, you'll have much better paddling than in the UK.

Speaking of the US you can't ignore the kayaking in California either. Not too many other places you can do 3-5 day wilderness runs that drop over 3,000 feet, in 80 degree sunny weather no less. I guess California is more or less the Norway of the US with lots of big slides and fun granite.

In terms of brands its the same except in terms of availability. A blisstick or robson is going to be a lot harder to find than say a wavesport or ll, at least thats the experianece ive had here in Oregon.[/quote]
