Neoprene waders for cold-water kayaking? 19 years 3 months ago #1832

I'm anxious to do some winter yakking. Have a Perception Sundance 9.5, want to do some flatwater/slow river stuff. Question- would a pair of neoprene chest waders work? Too cumbersome? (I'm 5'11", 190 lb). Would wear a drytop, gloves, etc.

Thanks!

yes they would work if you used a wadding belt or something so no water would go in. If you are not going to swim then one doesn't need to worry about the bottoms. For you safety guru's out there, "Always Dress for a Swim" :blah: :blah: I know I know

Waders are great at increasing your chances of drowning. Better to go with just fleece pants than waders. Better bet is dry bibs and drytop or drysuit, depending on your budget.

i wouldnt wear waters cause if you swim they'll fill up w/ water and like they said above increase your chances of drowning. just get some good flece pants and maybe a pair of splash or dry pants.
