Hey all....just bought my first ww boat.(riot showbiz) been sea kayaking for about 5 yrs. I've got a bent shaft carbon CD paddle as my main paddle for sea kayaking, and I'm sure I'm going to want some kind of ergonomic handle on what will be my main WW one. The Werner site recommends a sherpa for what I would mainly be doing.(river running with light play) I'm a pretty strong paddler and I'm just wondering if anyone's got any advice for other options to look at.

Thanks:)

I like AT's ATX with the flex shaft. 15 degree feather. It's bullit proof. When your not paddling you can use it to dig your rig out of the snow on the way to the put in.

That's cool and everything but AT's website says it's no longer available until further notice lol. Thanks anyway though:) It looks like it's just about perfect but unfortunately my search continues!

Check out H20 paddles:
www.h20paddles.com/whitewater.php

The H20-2 has plenty of power and feels great. The H20-Team is a paddle more for playing and it's great for when you're in a play boat. As a more all rounder I would go for the H20-2. The Team paddle is not cool once you're in a creek boat. It feels like it has too little power then. That's just my opinion. I paddle with both.

The grips are superb and the most comfortable out there. Try one out if you can. You might like it.

Sorry about the iffy lead. Didn't know they were having a problem at AT. A friend of mine just received one last weekend from outdoorplay.com and I saw some at the local outfitter here in Coeur d'Alene last Friday.

Good luck on your quest!

Thanks for the help guys.... this is TOO funny. Apparently the closest dealer to me that carries H2O paddles is closed for the season. (Haven't they heard of global warming?)Sweet looking though. Thanks Adrian:) Gotta try one...the H2O 2 could be the one, but the ATX's and Werner's are real nice too. I'm going to look at that site though...Thanks Terry:)

For now I think I'll buy a 4 piece as a spare and try other paddles when I can demo them. Being a newb, I'm not going to be going out in some pretty tame stuff for starters so a little flex loss from a 4 pc shouldn't make much of a difference while I get my legs and continue the hunt. Probably a better way to find the right one for me.

I definitely know more about what's out there now.

Cheers!

Well folks, I managed to find one; and let me tell you it IS the sh*t!! Got me a Werner double diamond. Mwa haha!! :) It's a 197 and performs awesome. Seems $300 CDN not too bad of a deal. I paid 360+tax for my Cadence Phantom GX touring paddle 5 years ago, and once you've graduated to a halfway decent paddle there's no going back. I know I'm a WW rookie, but what the hell?

Just curious (As I'm looking for a paddle) where did you look for yours? I've checked out boatwerks, and mec gear swap, any other good resources? (I'm in Ontario)

Thanks,
Kirk

I found mine on the online gear swap on the MEC site. Boatwerks has good stuff sometimes too. I guess it's more of a right place right time thing. Keep your eyes peeled. I'll email the guy I got mine from if you want, he had one other werner bentshaft. It wasn't Double Diamond, but carbon nonetheless.
Anyway if he still has it, I'll PM you and give you the info.
