Kayakers should never complain about the weather. The roots of our sport of course come from parts of the world where cloudy and 40f would be downright tropical!

weird. they're using canoe paddles in their kayaks. i'm not too savvy about kayak history. was that normal in the early days?

Yeah I thought they mainly used this type www.cricketdesigns.com/greenland.htm Greenland style paddles have been used for at least 1000 years in the North Atlantic...

Lovely paddle, used one once surprising how much pull you get off it. Apprently there is some rolling festival in greenland where people get together and do rolls, some 120 odd different types.

Can someone clue me in on the whole 'using single blade paddle' scene please?

I've never tried it but it looks interesting.

The type of paddle they used all depends on where across the north you live. There are many areas in central northern Canada for example where they used single blades.

This took place in some of the delta areas where they there in the sea but also in the tight corners of the rivers where they hunted caribou.

Cheers,
