Which boat... 17 years 2 months ago #20294

Howdy,

I'm looking for a replacement for my old school Riot Disco. Something of similar standing in terms of useful in Rivers, Play Spots, Surf Waves (ocean) and flat water flinging around.

Something that is going to make my life easy when trying to cartwheel etc and learn fancy tricks, but also something that is going to make my life easy when on the river (grade3/4 kind of area.)

Living in NZ we have a limited range / access to new boats....

Now locally I've found a few which I like and can get hold of and seem to be in the play/river arena:
  • Bliss Stick RAD
  • Liquid Logic CR
  • Jackson Fun - does this boat deserve the legend that is attached to it simply because it's EJs?!
  • Liquid Logic Ronin (thou think this won't be too hot on rivers - too much of playboat?)
  • Pyrana Recoil - thou possibly too big to throw around on flat stuff and learn tricks?
  • Fluid Spice

All are roughly the same price, bar the Bliss Stick RAD which is a good 40% cheaper (as it's made locally of course).

Has anyone any experience with any of the above boats?

I'm wavering towards the RAD as it is a hell of a lot cheaper, but on the same hand, I don't want to get a boat just because it's cheap if there is better out there...

Any thoughts and suggestions most welcome...

humz about middle of the road. Maybe 70-75kg and around 6 foot...

Some of the boats I mention obviously have different models/sizes (RAD 175/185/195, Jackson 2/4/ Fun etc)....

Cheers

Hey There,

Living in NZ you should have great access to a long, long demo in a RAD. You can get 100 different answers to your question from 100 different people on how a boat performs for them. It's all about what is right for you. Demo them all! Give the RAD a good long workout. It's not about \"cheap,\" the RAD is one of the best boats on the market and with the 40% you save maybe there will be a new Mystic Creeker in your future?

Good Luck!
