Throwline 'Ninja Style' 17 years 1 month ago #20699

Hi,

looking through some syllabus and it said under the throwline section:

' A simple ‘ninja‘ style is sufficient, though direct belays if available could also be used.'

No idea what this means so is there someone out there who does?

cheers

A direct belay is when the rope would be wrapped around something solid, like a tree or something. That would be in climbing though..

The so called 'ninja' style they are referring to is probably just someone standing on the bank, throwing the rope. Not being attached to any anchor or anything.

Hope that helps a bit.

I highly recommend a swift water rescue course where you can safely learn and practise the various aspects of rescue. ;) Good luck, be safe and have fun!
