Development of the a new boat 17 years 1 month ago #20753

Hello.

My name is Fernando Imazu. I've been canoeing since 1999. I live in Brazil, where i play Canoe Polo. I played the World Championships 2002 of Canoe Polo Sub-21 in Essen , Germany.
Today I'm a student of Industrial Design, for my Graduation Project I will develop a boat for Canoe Polo.
So, if somebody can help me with information like Bibliographic references, history of canoeing, history of canoe polo, hints for boat construction, directions path for project and other things.
I'd really apreciate it.
Thanks in advance

Fernando

Seems you are the most qualified person for the job.

But download this software:
www.blueheronkayaks.com/kayak/software/software.htm

It's free and might be useful for a canoe polo boat seeing as though the boats speeds are low.

The actual boat can be modelled using something like SolidWorks or Rhino (which is better for weird shapes...)

If you can find an illegal copy of this:
www.ansys.com/solutions/fsi.asp

Then great. It is reasonably user unfriendly though, a mate of mine used to design pump impellers on it. Otherwise it is VERY expensive, as are the other programs anyway... ;-)

That would be going about it the correct way! Otherwise go with your heart and test, demo and see what works with prototypes. Kayak companies don't have access to expensive programs like these in house and cannot either afford the personnel to operate them. Contractors are the only way for them. I'm assuming you wouldn't have the funds for a contractor.. But you could quietly make a mission on your own. Just don't attract attention and tell people what software you're using. Good luck! And have fun! :roflol:
