I'm just wondering what the prices are for new kayaks around the world. In Australia they seem to be fairly high for some reason. I don't know whether it's because there aren't a lot of paddlers over here, or because we are on the other side of the world.

Here's a short list of RRP (Recommended Retail Prices) or just local prices vs AU prices. I've also given numbers in US$ as a reference.

Liquid Logic Jefe: RRP US$1095 (AU$1165) - AU Price: AU$1899 (Although this kayak is selling for US$799 on the site I found)


The list is only short, I only had a quick look online for prices in AU and abroad and if I didn't find prices ASAP I didn't bother hunting. But it seems to show a trend that in Australia we are paying double the price for kayaks than if we were in the US. I expect to see SOME cost inflation due to shipping etc. but double the retail price is a bit steep?

So post up, how does the rest of the world fair when it comes to paying for kayaks? Who's getting good deal's and who's getting shafted?

Don't forget import tax and I think that their is BIG surcharge on importing things into Oz. But the main factor is the cost of shipping the boats to any country

if everything cost twice as much in aus as i did in other parts of the world, it would be nearly inpossible to live here. this this type of thing does not happen with mountain bikes and cars so why should it happen with boats?
