The film is in stock and ready to ship.

I will start off by apologizing to all that have made orders over the last year. Although this film has taken way longer than expected, Fishers film is some of our best work yet. We are working quickly to fill orders and will be getting in touch with people whose orders we were not able to process. The film is packed with 2 hours of mind blowing footage and guarantees to entertain. Feel free to contact us with any questions through the website.

I got an email saying mine has shipped, yay!

The first kayaking DVD I ever purchased was \"Into the Tsangpo Gorge\". I loved the way the film's informative documentary style, mixed with great whitewater. The only thing I was disappointed with in this film was that I just wanted more! I felt that for such a journey, it couldn't be summed up in the 30-45mins of this film.

Since my first purchase, I have bought many more whitewater kayaking DVD's. Most show some good kayaking footage, but sometimes the editing and quality of which the movie is put together is slightly lacking. Some other movies are just purely paddle porn (which is also good).

After watching the preview for the black book, I am extremely excited and can't wait for the DVD to arrive. The quality and work that seems to go into any of Scott Lindgren's production's is amazing. I'm also glad to hear there's over 2hours of footage. With footage spanning 10years, it's glad to see you haven't cut the film short.

Once I receive the film, I'll post up a full review. If the quality is anything like the trailer, but for 2hrs, it will be by far the best paddling film in my collection.

For those who haven't seen the trailer, it can be seen here on playak.tv

Ok, so I received my copy.

First Impressions: The DVD comes in a cardboard fold-out thing, kind of like a book ("The Black Book" - get it?). Although I think it's a novel idea, the protection for the actual DVD is not nearly as good as your normal DVD cover. This was a bit of a downside for me. But that's the only down-side from here on in, except maybe the fact that the cinematography is so good I want it in High-Def (SLP give me a High-Def copy please! and when are you going to start releasing films on Blu-Ray as well as DVD?).

The movie: I don't want to use any cliche's, but "Wow!" This really is a masterpiece. The editing, cinematography, playboating, creeking, everything in this film is of amazing quality. The film is a mix of documentary style biography, mixed with sections of truly amazing paddling skill and great camera angles. The film shows interviews with various people who have helped shape Steve Fisher as a kayaker. The film isn't just about one man and his journey through whitewater kayaking. It is just as much of a history of whitewater kayaking over the last 10yrs.

It was said that this film was made from 10yrs worth of footage, and it shows. The footage in this film is far and beyond any kayaking film I've witnessed. The whole film absolutely draws you into it. To best sum up the quality of this film, I'll take you through a small clip that to me, says it all. After the film is over, and the credits are rolling, there's a quick clip showing one of the cameramen getting the shot of Fisher. The river looks to be 200m wide, and fisher is paddling down. Across the whole river is a cable, the cameramen is in his harness, and takes off on the rigged up flying fox. Sliding across to the middle of the river, just to get one shot. To rig something up like this would have taken hours, just to get the right camera angle. This is the type of effort that has gone into every sequence and every shot throughout the Black Book.

Conclusion: Huge thumbs up to Scott Lindgren, SLP and anyone else involved in the making of the Black Book. This truly is by far the best kayaking flick I've seen. And I've seen a lot that I thought were pretty good!

Anyone who is remotely interested in whitewater kayaking (or even if you're not, the nature of the Black Book would appeal to anybody) do yourself a favour and grab a copy!

"Out of every DVD I’ve ever seen, this would rate in my top two."

Are you talking every DVD EVER?? or just kayaking ones? Anyway, I'd like to know what the other DVD you're thinking of was?

The version I ordered directly from the US (I live in Switzerland) worked on my DVD (PS2) no problem.

This would let me assume that the DVD is region 2 PAL format.

I guess kayaking Allen. :) Not a massive film or tv fan. The other DVD would have to be One World. Of course that's just my little opinion. B)

Mine works just fine in South Africa. I don't think it would be a problem.. I've never had a problem with any kayaking DVD I've ordered from the USA or even when I got from the UK.
