New paddler boat help 17 years 3 weeks ago #20970

I'm looking at the Pyranha S6 and I'm curious if it is a decent boat for river running and play boating. I'm about 5'10. It is used and in my price range. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As boats go its a nice play boat, will cart wheel etc, but for a first boat it may be abit too playful especially for river running. You have to ask yourself what do you want to do?

If its white water river running etc it could be worth checking out a slightly higher volume boat, which would be easier to paddle on white water, won't :whip: you hard every time you make a mistake/ wrong move edge etc. Boats such as Pyranha Inazones H2 H3/ i3 /i4, dagger Juice/ RX, GT or the best buy at the min (in the uk at least) Liquid Logics Trigger, Lil Joe, Hoss

However if you want to play on a wave learn to cartwheel then yes could be ok, but will be a very steep learning curve on white water, bit of advice keep weight in either a neutral position (upright) or aggresive (forward) position and that should help on the white stuff. Other boats in this area would be the Dagger Gforce, kingpin, LL Vision, Ronin etc

If you can try it first for at least 1 hour, you may find you get numb legs

Happy paddling
