Suitable boat for 6'6", 95kg Guy? 17 years 1 week ago #21245

orionb Topic Author Offline New Member Posts: 2 Thank you received: 0	G'day, Am looking to purchase my first boat, and am wondering if anyone can suggest any models that would accommodate a 6'6" guy weighing 95kgs and with size 13 feet. Am after a river running all-rounder that plays well. Have looked at a few on the net, such as Fluids Spice L, Wavesport EZG, Necky Mission and the liquid logic CR250. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Orion

stumac Offline Senior Member Posts: 41 Thank you received: 0	If you are looking at Fluid then try the Large Flirt as well it, is more playfull than the Spice and with your weight should be fine for river running. Enjoy it is always great getting a new boat. Stuart

I would highly recommend the large Flirt. The L Spice will surf ok, but you'll battle to get ends...

I'm a bit shorter - 6'4", size 12, but I do paddle the Flirt on the middle, or one forward from middle seat position. It's the biggest play boat I've found (although choice is a bit limited here), and I've used it river running (mostly III, some IV), low volume (easy) creeking and the Zambezi, and been very happy with it. I added some knee-blocks a while back, and found that, together with well-fitting hip pads, this improved the handling and comfort quite a lot too.

Definitely try before you buy if you can - or at least sit in the boat in the shop to see what the fit is like... There's no point having a boat you can only spend 5 minutes at a time in (especially if you want it for river running).
