Playak News Watch: Adrian Tregoning: DIY - Replacing Latex Gaskets

You’ve just put your hand through the gasket and as you’re about to climb onto another cold river you realise that latex seal is torn. The top is ruined and you’re about to toss it away when you remember that it can easily be fixed! All is not last, except for a guaranteed freezing cold day on the river...

I hope this article is of some use. :cheer: If anybody has any further suggestions, please let me know. This is just a rough way of doing it with minimal tools and skills... :P It would be interesting to know how professionals do it. :silly:

Thanks Alex, thanks Tom B) Hopefully that neck seals stays tight, otherwise there's another reason to remain upright... :toothless:

Yes good stuff. The only thing you left out was who is your friend who was rafting and when was he in Iceland :)

Ok, I updated it now, look again. ;) It was Jussi Tanskanen that gave me the advice. He was working with Colin Furmston in Iceland. I think Colin had been there longer. Super dudes, do you know them? It was either 2007 or 2006. Not sure. :)

One minute in looks like Jussi to me. Ha, only a Finn could paddle without a dry top in Iceland.. ;) Only watched half of it but looks good.

Iceland looks great. On my list of must visit places for sure. :)

That´s Jussi. I got to know him a little in Norway 2006 and met him there again in 2007 by the take-out of the Upper-Ula.
I´m pretty sure that he was not working in Iceland in 2006 - rather 2004/05. Says on the video 2005 and he´s in it!
He liked being up there and said that the money was good compared to other places.

I once got a neck gasket ripped while paddling there. The rafters foreman, a guy from Nepal named Anup, changed the gasket for me in 10 minutes.

I guess it wasn´t his first timeB)
