Playak News Watch: Richard at Point 65: Nigel Foster Rough water paddling in Stockholm

This weekend we asked the lockkeeper to open the lock between the lake Mälaren and the Baltic sea. This creates quite a wave with a 2 meter drop. FUN!

looks like that wave might be great fun for surf kayaks or playboats as well.... did someone ever try?

Yes, it's great fun for whitewater kayaks aswell. Kanotklubben Strömstararna, Stockholms whitewaterkayak-club, frequently paddles there whenever the lock is open. The waves are not that steep and, but if you're lucky you can backsurf and even spin on it.. :) It's great fun anyways and there's always a big crowd watching us, and of course cheering whenever there is someone rolling.
