I have had my boat for nearly a year (brought it second hand of a fellow playaker) and i have a feeling in that time i have had a little growth spurt as the boat seems to dive at the front if i stop concentrating when paddling on flat water. this had lead to slight back problems from leaning back a lot.

is my best bet to try and alter the boat (move seat ect to shift wait back) or sell and buy a new boat.

if i decided to sell how much should i be looking at asking for a perception full tilt in good condition only usual scratches you would expect from a boat of this age. still have extra padding, pleasure pod and water bottle :P.

cheers in advance

Try and move the seat back a bit, it sounds like your trim is too far forward. If that doesnt help much then sell the boat and get something with a bit more volume possibly, but you will not get much money for a boat as old as the Tilt these days.

Something I know that helps with the diving... as It helps me with keeping the nose up.. is actually sitting straight up and leaning a little forward.. in effect your engaging your hip flexers (the muscles that pull your knees towards your chest) keeping your bow up and actually making you pick up speed.. You're probably aware of this but i thought it was a good opportunity to explain it in case you didn't know or if anyone else was reading it and having trouble with nose control :) maybe combine it with the seat back!?

-Good luck with the boat situation!

*remember* if you wanna do the lean forward thing, simply moving your chest towards your knees and bending your back is not right, You have to sit up straight, as if you were in an army guy, chest out, back straight, you should feel some tension in your lower back right above your coccyx, (Tail bone spot), then lean forward so your not bending your back, just keep a puffed up army chest.

As far as boat price, you could always aim high, then gradually drop it until you get more attention, but be patient. 550-700 is a good range for used boats in good condition or high demand used boats.. so start in there?

Good luck - Keep on a YAKIN:side:

Hi danger

tried your trick today and although it did stop it from diving deeply i still had the bow underwater for must of the time i was paddling.
i have not ben able to bring the boat home from the club so i will attempt next time i am down there (time for my holidays) to see what happens if i move the seat back.

just a quick question to everyone.

are there any negative side affects to shifting your weight back in the boat.

cheers guys

yes if u are perfectley in the right place in the boat e.g. your wight is central moveing it back can change a lot of things like the back will start squirting ect it mite just change your front problem to a back problem this may not be right or make sence some one can correct it if they like haha :P

Ideally you want the boat to sit level in the water when you are sat in it in a neutral position. Get someone on the bank to look at you in the boat and work out if this is the case if not you will need to move the seat back or forwards. If you are back heavy in the boat it will surf slightly better on waves when you are surfing forwards but spin to a back surf and it will be less effective.
If you are front heavy in the boat it will be easier to initiate the front end of a cartwheel but your second end will be harder.
Hope all that makes sense. Good luck :)
